Spring General Meeting

Our next General Membership Meeting will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 9:30 - 12:00pm. Join us at the Wallace House, 2101 Caton Rd., Ottawa, IL. The W.H.L. Wallace House, known as "The Oaks" and located at 2101 Caton Road in Ottawa, IL, is a historic Gothic-style stone home built in the late 1850s for Civil War General William H. L. Wallace and his wife. The home is associated with Lincoln-era history and is located near the private Wallace-Dickey Cemetery.

The membership is invited to meet up at the Pistol Shrimp game in Peru to enjoy a social gathering.
Fall General Meeting

This meeting will be held at the Dickinson House in Oglesby from 9:30-12:00. Guest speakers will include representatives from the IRTA and ROE to keep us updated on the latest news from the state and county.

General Meeting 2/26/24
The meeting was held at the Dickinson House in Oglesby.
IRTA President, Mike Schmidt and Executive Director, Jessica Hoselton held a discussion on pertinent topics and fielded questions. The program "Solo Chef: Cooking for One of Two" was presented by Susan Glassman from the University of Illinois Extension Office.
Pistol Shrimp Game
7/25/24
Members held a social gathering on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Pistol Shrimp game in Peru. The retired teachers enjoyed watching the between innings contests, looking at the pitching speed monitor and meeting all of the Pistol Shrimp players and their sponsors. This may become an annual event!
Tour Lighted Way School
9/23/24
Members toured the new Lighted Way School as part of our General Membership Meeting on Sept. 23rd.
Winter General Meeting 2/24/25
The Winter General Meeting was held at the Ottawa History and Scouting Museum in Ottawa. John Flaherty from IRTA updated members on legislation, the Social Security Fairness Act and other current issues. Members then toured the museum.
Spring General Meeting 4/28/25
The Spring General Meeting was held on Monday, April 28th at 9:00am at Stage 212. The theatre is located at 700 1st St. in LaSalle. A backstage tour was conducted for those in attendance.
Pistol Shrimp Game
7/16/25
Members enjoyed an evening at the ballpark to watch the Pistol Shrimp defeat the Clinton LumberKings.
Fall General Meeting
9/22/25
The Fall General Meeting was held on Monday, Sept. 22nd at 9:00am at Nell's Woodland in Ottawa. After an informative meeting, members hiked the trails on the beautiful property.
Volunteer Opportunities
Tracking Volunteer Hours
LSCRTA is tracking all of the volunteer hours that our members give to their community in order to report those hours to the IRTA for their data collection. Members should keep track of all of the hours that you volunteer... to any organization, club or group throughout the year. Then between Jan. 1 and Jan. 15th of 2026, you should report those 2025 hours using the form below. We will gather all of the data and report it to the IRTA. They will use this information to illustrate the importance of our volunteerism in our communities.
